Volunteer Youth Worker It's more than tutoring, more than mentoring, and more than guiding field trips -- it's everything combined! With guidance and supervision from one of our Program Directors, you can join ACT as a volunteer youth worker to help kids do better in school, learn about the work world, explore the City (and beyond), and generally investigate all the questions that growing up brings. This kind of volunteering takes a commitment of time and energy, but the rewards are great. If you would like more information, contact Rui Bing Zheng at ruibing@chinatownbeacon.org School-to-Career Volunteer You can drop by during our school or community based programs and talk to youth about your college and career experiences, and offer advice on balancing work, personal happiness, and achieving your goals in life. This is a good opportunity for those with an inner guru struggling to get out. If we spot a light bulb go off over the student's head while they are listening to you, we would explore further opportunities with you in terms of job shadowing, internships, a field trip to your company, or a "power lunch" between you and some highly interested youth. You can volunteer either just once, or on an ongoing basis. We have opportunities in the following areas: Facilities: Fixing things up, installing new lights, improving office sound barriers. If you decide to help in one of these areas on an ongoing basis, you could decide to join one of the committees of the Board of Directors as a non-voting member. Please let us know your interest by contacting Rui Bing Zheng at ruibing@chinatownbeacon.org. Member of the Board of Directors As a member of the Board of Directors, you would be one of the people who are ultimately responsible for the overall development and success of the agency. This kind of volunteering is for those who are willing to put up with (or even enjoy) the pains of upper management, policy, and fundraising because you enjoy the broad outcome that results. For more information, contact our Executive Director Darin Ow-Wing at darin@cessf.org. CES is dependent upon generous donations from corporations, non-profits, government agencies, and various foundations. We are grateful to all these organizations for their support. Our continuing goal is to increase the number of youth we serve since every year thousands of San Francisco youth that we are unable to reach can benefit from our programs. Also, because the amount of our funding varies from year to year, CES needs to develop stronger support from the local communities and businesses of San Francisco. If you would like to donate, please email Rui Bing Zheng at ruibing@chinatownbeacon.org. We do accept Visa and MasterCard. CES Wish List New computers CES Funders 2005-2006 Government Agencies |
